How to Draw a Cupcake

Learn to Draw a Cupcake in 5 Easy to Follow Steps

Tired of banging your head against the wall trying to learn how to draw a cupcake?

Then you’re in the right place…

I’ve taken the time to break it down into 5 easy to follow steps to make learning to draw a cupcake simple and easy for everyone.

The cupcake drawing for people who don’t wanna read the whole thing:

Step 1: Draw This Shape

The first thing you gotta do when learning how to draw a cupcake is draw this shape. It kinda looks like the letter “U” with a flat bottom. This will be the wrapper of the cupcake.

Step 2: Draw an Oval

Next, draw an oval on top of that weird shape from earlier. I tried to make mine slightly lumpy to make it look like a fluffy cake.

Step 3: Draw the Frosting

Now we need to add frosting to our cupcake drawing. Draw the frosting on top of the oval and erase the overlapping lines.

Step 4: Give the Cupcake a Face

Now draw a cute face on the cupcake. I made the face look kinda sad/ nervous, probably because he’s about to get eaten. This is your chance to really get creative, you can do whatever you want on this step or even skip it altogether.

Step 5: Draw the Details

As usual, the last step to any drawing is to scratch it up. Add small details and clean up your lines so it looks like you know what you’re doing.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade the Cupcake

Pick a light source and stick to it when you highlight and shade. I did green frosting, blue wrapper, and chocolate cake but you can do whatever you want.

If you actually read this that’s cool! If you only looked at the pictures, that’s cool too. I appreciate your time either way.
