How to Draw a Donut (5 Easy Steps)
Learn to Draw a Donut in 5 Easy to Follow Steps
If you typed “how to draw a donut” into Google, you’re in the right place!
This beginner-friendly tutorial makes drawing donuts super simple. I’ve broken it down into 5 easy-to-follow steps. That way, anybody can learn to draw donuts.
This is the donut drawing we will be working on today:

Step 1: Draw a Circle
The first step to drawing a donut is to keep it simple. Draw a squashed circle (if you need help, check out my how to draw a sphere tutorial). Size doesn’t matter. Donuts come in a lot of sizes.

Step 2: Draw Some Frosting
The next thing to do when drawing a donut is to draw some frosting. Draw some wavy lines across the donut. Let it hang over the edges to give it some depth. If you like frosting, you might also like my other dessert tutorials how to draw a slice of cake, or how to draw a cupcake.

Step 3: Draw the Donut Hole
Draw the donut hole. I drew a “C” on its side and put some more wavy lines.

Step 4: Draw Some Donut Sprinkles
Draw little pill shaped sprinkles all over the donut. You can skip this step if you’re not a fan of sprinkles.

Step 5: Draw the Details
As usual, the last step to any drawing is to add texture and scratch it up a bit. (you can see the same idea in my skull drawing tutorial).

Bonus Step: Color and Shade the Donut
Nothing new here. Pick some cool colors, add some shadows and highlights, and you’ll have a pretty cool looking donut drawing. You know what goes really good with donuts??
