How to Draw a Slice of Cake in 6 Easy Steps
Learn to Draw a Slice of Cake in 6 Easy Steps
Drawing a slice of cake was one of the hardest creative challenges that I’ve ever had to over come.
Lucky for you…
I’ve spent years perfecting the technique, and now I’m here to teach you how to draw a slice of cake in 6 easy-to-follow steps. We’re going to break it down into simple shapes and take it one step at a time, which is perfect for beginners.
Don’t feel like reading? Here’s the finished slice of cake drawing:

Step 1: Draw a Rectangle
This is our first simple shape when drawing a slice of cake. It’s a rectangle. Slant the long side a little and make sure you keep the lines parallel.

Step 2: Draw a Triangle on Top
Next you’re going to want to draw a triangle on top of the rectangle. Make it look like the image below. I kinda hovered it above and connected it to the rectangle with some little lines. This will be the frosting later.

Step 3: Draw Some Cake Decor
Let’s make this slice of cake drawing a little fancy by adding some decor. I drew some overlapping circles on the back of the cake. You can do what ever you want, maybe even skip this step if you want a more simple cake drawing.

Step 4: Make the Frosting Wavy
Erase the tip of that triangle and re-draw it wavy, so it looks like frosting.

Step 5: Give the Cake Some Layers
I’m going for a two layer cake. You can add as many as you want. I made it kinda lumpy so it would look like fluffy cake.

Step 6: Add The Details
I drew some squiggly lines on top to look like frosting. Then I made the Cake even fluffier with more lumps. Then I added the usual scratch marks that I like to use. If you’re new here, those help make it look like you’re really good at drawing.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade the Slice of Cake
Pick a light source and stick to it when you highlight and shade. I used my signature colors, but you can do whatever you want.

If you actually read this, that’s cool! If you only looked at the pictures, that’s cool too. I appreciate your time either way.
