Learn to Draw a Croissant in 5 Easy Steps

Today I’m going to teach you how to draw a croissant. This beginner-friendly tutorial will have you drawing a cute little croissant in 5 easy-to-follow steps. So follow along and get one step closer to becoming a better artist.

The croissant drawing for people who don’t wanna read the whole thing:

Step 1: Draw This Shape

The first thing you’re gonna wanna do when learning how to draw a croissant is draw this weird shape. It’s just a lopsided circle. It’s not super important to get the shape perfect, just get something that looks kinda like the shape below.

Step 2: Draw Two More Circles

Next, draw two more circles on both sides of your previous circle. Make sure they overlap the way it’s shown in the picture. That will give your drawing depth. If you want, you can stop here and call it a pig in a blanket drawing. Up to you.

Step 3: Draw Two More Circles

This is just a repeat of step 2. Just make them a little smaller and draw them a little lower to give the croissant a crescent moon shape. Now you’re one step closer to learning how to draw a croissant.

Step 4: Draw a Rounded Triangle

Draw a rounded triangle on top of the first circle you drew. Have it wrap around the circle to give the impression that this is one piece of dough that has been rolled into a croissant.

Step 5: Scratch up the Croissant

Add some random dots and lines to give the croissant drawing a little bit of visual interest. The only thing I think about during this step is balance. Basically don’t put all your scratches in one spot, make sure they are evenly distributed.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade the Croissant

Do the flat colors first. I went with a tannish color that gets darker as it gets closer to the top of the croissant. Choose a light direction and stick to it when you are shading and highlighting.

If you actually read this, that’s cool! If you only looked at the pictures, that’s cool too. I appreciate your time either way. I hope this simple croissant tutorial helped you learn how to draw a croissant quickly and easily.
