How to Draw a Treasure Chest
Learn How to Draw a Treasure Chest the Easy Way
Listen dude, I get it. Learning how to draw a treasure chest is one of the hardest challenges an artist might face. They are very complicated and sometimes it’s hard to know where all the lines go.
Which is why…
I’m here to teach you how to draw a treasure chest the easy way. I’ve spent years drawing treasure chests and I’ve broken it down into 5 simple steps that even a baby could follow. So follow along to get one step closer to being a crappy artist just like me.
The final treasure chest drawing for people who aren’t patient:

Step 1: Draw This Shape
The first step of drawing a treasure chest is to draw this shape. What would you call this shape? I’d call it a square with a half circle on top of it.

Step 2: Draw the Front of the Chest
Another weird shape. This is the front of the chest. Figure out the width that you want your chest to be and draw a line that mimics the line from the previous shape. Once you have that line, connect it to the top and bottom of the shape we drew earlier.

Step 3: Draw a Line Through the Middle
This is an easy step. Just draw a line through the middle of the chest.

Step 4: Draw Some Shapes
On the inside of the chest draw these shapes. Treasure chests are usually made from wood with some sort of metal trim. These shapes become the wood and metal trim.

Step 5: Draw the Details
It’s detail time. Give those shapes from earlier a wood grain pattern. Also add a keyhole to the front of the chest. After that you can scratch it up as usual. Make this chest look like it’s seen some stuff.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade the Treasure Chest
First do the flat colors. Then pick a light source and stick to it as you add the shadows and highlights. Now you’ve learned how to draw a treasure chest, GOOD JOB!!

If you actually read this that’s cool! If you only looked at the pictures, that’s cool too. I appreciate your time either way.
