Step 1: Draw a Cube

I went over this extensively in my How to Draw a Cube tutorial, so I’ll only touch on it briefly here. Draw the shape below.

Step 2: Draw the Bow

This has got to be the hardest part and will probably need a tutorial of its own. I start with a circle in the center of the cube. Then I draw two rounded triangles on either side. After that, I draw rectangles under those. Just try to draw what you see below and maybe one day I’ll have a How to Draw a Bow tutorial I can link to.

Step 3: Draw the Mouth

Some presents have mouths, trust me. I gave this present sharp teeth and a tongue, so be careful when you open it. *wink*

Step 4: Give the present some eyes

Circles are prolly the best eyes. So draw a couple of those and put some dots in the middle for pupils.

Step 5: Draw the ribbon

The ribbon from the top needs to wrap around the present, so we will draw that in now. Just some lines that run parallel to the edges of the box.

Step 6: Add the Details

Time for the best part… the details. I added random scratches and dots to give the Christmas present some texture and make it a little more interesting to look at.

Bonus Step: Shade and Highlight the Christmas Present

Color and shade the Christmas present if you wanna go the extra mile. I went with blue wrapping paper and a green ribbon, but you can do whatever you want.

If you made it all the way down here that’s pretty cool. I appreciate you reading this, and hopefully it helped you learn how to draw a Christmas present.

Can a Christmas present be a different shape?

Definitely. Presents can be boxes, bags, cylinders, or almost any other shape depending on what’s inside. Try drawing a tall skinny present, a wide flat one, or a strangely shaped gift for something different.

Why do Christmas presents have bows?

Bows are mainly used as decoration and make a wrapped gift look more finished. They’re also an easy way to make a present look more festive in a drawing.

What colors should I use for a Christmas present drawing?

There aren’t really any rules. Red, green, gold, silver, blue, and white are common Christmas colors, but you can use whatever colors you like. I went with blue wrapping paper and a green ribbon for mine.
