Roses can be pretty hard to draw. Too many petals and other small details, sometimes its hard to keep it all straight.

But lucky for you…

I’ve been working night and day to make drawing a rose extremely simple! I’ve broken it down into 6 easy to follow steps. That way anyone can learn how draw a simple rose!

Step 1: Draw an Oval

If you’ve looked at any of my other drawing tutorials you know I like to start with simple shapes.

well…

This one is no different. Drawing an oval is the first step to drawing a simple rose.

Step 2: Add a Swirl

To keep this rose drawing super simple we’ll just draw a swirl in the center of the circle. This will represent the petals. It just kinda gives the impression of petals and keeps it simple and graphic.

Step 3: Draw a Stem

Draw a stem coming out the bottom of the bud. Make it as long or as short as you want to.

Step 4: Give it a leaf

Remember, we’re trying to keep this rose drawing simple. So, lets do the same with the leaf. A simple circle makes a great leaf.

Step 5: Needs Some Thorns

Two Triangle will make great thorns for this simple rose. Add as many as you want. I tucked one behind the stem to give some added depth.

Step 6: Add the Details

As usual, scratch it up. Do what ever you want on this step. This is your chance to get creative and make it yours. If your not a fan of the look you can skip it entirely.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade

The final step is the same bonus step as always. Do the flat colors then shade it.
