How To Draw a Simple Mushroom (6 Easy Steps)

Learn to Draw a Mushroom in 6 Easy to Follow Steps

I’ve made this simple tutorial to show you how to draw a mushroom in the easiest way possible. After following these 6 steps, you’ll basically be a pro at drawing mushrooms.

and that’s because…

I’ve drawn a ton of mushrooms over the years, and this is the simplest method I’ve found that actually works. That way, even you can learn how to draw a mushroom!

Step 1: Draw a Rounded Triangle (Mushroom Cap)

As usual, the goal here is to make learning to draw as simple as possible. So, we’ll draw a mushroom cap using a simple shape. Draw a triangle with rounded corners. Feel free to experiment with the size and proportions of the triangle, to make the mushroom drawing your own.

Step 2: Draw a Squashed Circle

The next step when learning how to draw a mushroom is to draw a squashed circle inside your rounded triangle. This will house the gills of the mushroom drawing.

Step 3: Draw the Mushroom’s Annulus

I actually had to Google what this part is called, the annulus. It protects the gills as the mushroom grows and hangs underneath the cap afterward. The simplest way I can think to explain this is to draw a box with “W’s” at the bottom. Make sure you erase the overlapping lines after you draw it.

Step 4: Draw the Stem of the Mushroom

A simple rectangle makes the perfect stem for this mushroom drawing.

Step 5: Add the Gills and the Spots

Draw a couple of lines for the gills, and some circles for the spots on our mushroom cap. Don’t overdo it, less gills usually looks better in simple drawings, but you can do as many or as few as you want.

Step 6: Add the Details to Your Mushroom

Scratch it up, as usual. This step will trick people into thinking you are better at drawing than you actually are. “Wow, so detailed,” they will say.

Bonus Step: Color and Shade This Simple Mushroom

If you feel like it color and shade your drawing. Make sure you go crazy when picking the colors. Then, choose a light source and make sure you stick to it when you’re adding the highlights and shadows.

Wow you’re a pro!! Thanks for taking a look at this how to draw a mushroom tutorial. It really means a lot to me.
