How to Draw a Cartoon Eyeball

Learn how to draw a cartoon eyeball the easiest way tutorial

Learning to draw a cartoon eyeball can be challenging, difficult, and not very easy at all. Sometimes the amount of steps it takes can seem insurmountable.

But don’t give up yet…

I’ve probably drawn 10 million eye balls and have whittled it down to 4 steps to make it much easier, less hard, and even a breeze. So that even YOU can draw a cartoon eyeball like me (a professional artist).

Step 1: Draw a Circle

Step one is pretty simple. Bust out that pencil and paper and draw a circle on it. There ya go, that’s basically an eyeball. You can trace something if your circle looks lumpy. I don’t mind a lopsided eyeball so I’ll just free hand it.

Step 2: Add the Pupil/Iris

Now you’re gonna need to add the pupil and iris. Start by drawing a smaller circle inside your first circle. That will end up being the iris (colored part of the eye). Then put an even smaller circle inside that one to act as the pupil.

Step 3: Make it veiny

This eye ball needs a bit of a creepy factor so I’ll give it some veins. Drawing veins is pretty simple just draw some weird squiggly lines. Make sure they overlap the original circle so that they look like they are wrapping around the eyeball.

Step 4: Scratch it up

If you wanna draw like me, you gotta scratch it up. Just draw little lines and dots kinda randomly. Probably a good time to color in the pupil as well.

Bonus Step: Color/Shadow and Highlights

Pick a nice color for the veins and iris. I went with green and pink. Then imagine a light source and make sure you keep it in mind when you draw shadow and highlights.

Now you’re a professional eyeball drawer. Good Job!!
